What do I get from being a Token?

Whew yall I'm still finding the language for this one. I am constantly checking myself and undoing this sense of individualism and the need to be the only One. I hate what Black Poster Culture does to us and to me.

But I also understand its roots and purpose. The institution of whitness thrives when we as Black Folk are at war with one another. we really be enjoying the fight to be the crab at the top.

It makes me sick when I catch myself allowing my career victories to be monumental only when I am able to vocalize the many Black Women that "lost to me."

And the thing is, this mindset is soooo natural and to fight against it is to be hyper aware and in the know about the veiled tools of whitness used to upkeep an oppressive system.

I get nothing out of seeing another Black Woman lose. And that's on Periodt.
