Spoken Words

The Black Man Can Do No Good.

5/12/2020

The Black Man
Can do
No good.
No matter that he speedin'
Down these roads just to punch
The clock, as y'all say he should.

Speedin' seem to be the only pace
Of transportation, evading
The eyes of them
White gazes.

"I was just goin to work"
He say.
"But because I was taken
Care of my babies
I was a little late..."

It don't pay them no
Never mind.
All they see is
A Black Man
Who can't
Take the Pace.

The Black Man
Can do
No good
In a space in time
Where White Folk think
They are breed
Poorly in the hood.

"Poetry has served as a linguistic code since I was a child. It allowed me to speak freely without fear.
In an effort to synchronize my creative voices I am giving my love for poetry a home in my creative process.
    These are my spoken words."
